I am an accredited music therapist in Edmonton, Alberta and a graduate of the Capilano Music Therapy Program in Vancouver, BC. Growing up in a musical family I have always been drawn to music’s ability to connect people to others and to themselves. I started working in long-term care facilities in 2005 and began using music as a way to bring happiness and joy to the residents. Seeing first hand the positive effects that music had on their quality of life made me want to pursue it in a clinical setting. Since returning to Edmonton, I have had the privilege of working with people with dementia, brain injuries, developmental disabilities as well as in palliative care. My mission is to help bring joy, comfort and connectedness to individuals through the clinical use of music in the Edmonton and surrounding areas.

Prior to participating in Nadine’s music therapy, my father only sang in church and even that was seldom. Since he has been going (to music therapy) he sings, plays several instruments and even suggests songs to sing. I am sure that it is not often that someone in their 90’s improves mentally in long term care. That has happened to my dad.
